Sorghum Syrup

YouTube user HORTICULTUREVIDEOS presents a fast and easy way to make Sorghum Syrup. Sorghum syrup is easy to make and it is delicious. In this clip we are using the PITEBA oil extractor to press the juice out of the sorghum stalks. Sorghum stalks can be juiced and boiled down into syrup. To make sorghum syrup, we'll first need to mash, crush or press the juice out of the stalks. This could be done with an electric juice extractor or a wheat-grass juicer. We're using an oil extractor which is similar to a wheat-grass juicer. Hand powered tools are great for learning about the basic mechanics of bigger machines. Small pieces of cane are fed into the juicer while the crank is turning. A green juice will begin flow out of the sorghum stems. At this stage the juice is already quite sweet and aromatic. The crushed canes or "cake" can then be composted, fed to animals, or soaked in hot water to extract more sugar. Now we can simmer down the sorghum juice on a stove top. Pour the juice in a pot and set the burner on medium high. Small bubbles and steam will rise from the liquid. The water is carried away with the steam and syrup will form as the sugar gets more concentrated. We need to stir the thickening juice regularly to keep the syrup from burning. As soon as the liquid drips slowly like syrup we can turn off the heat. Keep in mind that the syrup will get thicker as it cools down. Pour the syrup off into a glass jar. Custom Homebuilt Super Nintendo Portable

This is a fully custom SNESp (Super NES portable) that I built back during my Freshman year at college. Inspired by Benjamin Heckendorn's work, I tried to include everything on this one. It uses a large-style motherboard (the big one) coupled to a Sony PSOne 5" screen with RGB connections. The RGB video is way better than the composite connection most people use when modding this stuff. The big-@$$ Sony NP-F960 battery on it in the video can run Super Mario World for about 6 hrs. Honestly, I've gotten tired of playing before running it dead. I usually use the lightweight small NP-F550 batteries. The case was a custom design of my own using a technique called vacuum forming. The SNES motherboard can be turned off independently (shown in the video) so another input can be displayed on the screen, such as a DVD player or whatever has Composite video. The backlight is a cold-cathode bulb with lightbox pulled from a 4" screen of unknown origin. It uses about half as much power as the original screen's backlight. And yes, I am that person of the same name from the BenHeck Portable Forums all those years ago.

HG - Computex 2010 - Sapphire Technology - ATI Graphics Cards

We've got some of Sapphire's ATI graphics cards over here, and as you can already see, their monsterous 5970 is a rather eye catching product. Other graphics cards on display are their passively cooled Ultimate 5550 graphics cards that Sapphire custom designed, and their line of Vapor X products. What's interesting with the Vapor X product is that Sapphire says they've got an efficient solution on their hands. They've basically got a tiny vacuum cavity in the middle of their heatsink and this has a small amount of water in it. When the water is heated up by the GPU and becomes vapor, the vapor clings to the top of the cavity, transfers the heat to the top of the heatsink, is dissipated by the cooling fan, cools and condenses back into water and falls to the bottom, and the cycle repeats again and again. Even their TOXIC graphics card show here also makes use of their Vapor X cooling invention.
